Hinged door hardware includes the hinges, handles, locks, cylinders, bolts, closers and compatible accessories that support the operation of an aluminium door. Components must suit the selected frame system, panel size, glass weight, opening direction and single- or double-door configuration.

Main Hinged Door Hardware Components
- Hinges: support the door panel and control the swing.
- Handles and lever sets: provide everyday operation and must suit the lock body.
- Lock body and cylinder: secure the active door panel using the compatible system.
- Flush bolts: may secure the inactive panel of selected French or double-door configurations.
- Door closers or restrictors: may be specified where compatible and required by the project.
- Stops, seals and accessories: protect finishes and coordinate clearances and weather sealing.
Single, Double and French Door Hardware
A single hinged door normally uses one active panel. French or double doors require the active and inactive panels, meeting stiles, locks and bolts to work together. The preferred opening direction and active door should be identified on the plans or approved drawings.
See our aluminium hinged and French doors Melbourne page for complete door options.
Hardware Compatibility and Door Weight
Door height, width, aluminium frame, glass and total panel weight affect compatible hinges and locks. Hardware from another system should not be substituted only because the components look similar. Fixing positions, clearances and load capacity may differ.
Hinged Door Hardware Maintenance
- Keep thresholds, drainage paths and closing areas clear of debris.
- Clean handles and accessible hardware with suitable mild products.
- Check for loose fasteners, panel movement or inconsistent locking.
- Do not force a handle or lock when the panel is out of alignment.
- Use adjustment and lubrication methods suitable for the selected system.
Identifying Replacement Hardware
Replacement parts should be identified from the original door system, markings, photographs and measurements. A lock, hinge or handle may have changed since the door was manufactured. Where components are damaged or discontinued, the complete door and frame may need assessment before a suitable solution is confirmed.
