Window Installation vs Supply Only Melbourne
JL Windows can support suitable Melbourne projects as either a supply-only window and door package or an agreed supply and installation scope. The right option depends on who is managing the site, the existing construction, programme, access and how responsibilities are divided between trades.
Supply Only
Supply only is often suitable for builders, owner-builders and renovation teams that already have the trades and site coordination required to install the window and door package.
JL manufactures or supplies the agreed products to the confirmed specification. The builder or customer is responsible for installation and for coordinating the windows and doors with the surrounding building work unless the quotation states otherwise.
Supply & Installation
Where installation is included in the JL quotation, the scope should identify the products and agreed installation work. Site access, opening readiness, structural work, flashing, drainage, floor levels, removal of existing products and finishing requirements still need to be coordinated for the individual project.
What Does the Builder Still Need to Coordinate?
- Correct structural openings and supporting construction
- Safe and unobstructed site access
- Flashing and weatherproofing responsibilities as defined for the project
- External drainage and finished floor relationships
- Cladding, brickwork, plaster and other surrounding finishes
- Other trades and construction sequencing
Correct installation is critical to long-term window and door operation. Packing, fixing, square and plumb installation, drainage paths and appropriate flashing all need to be considered for the actual opening and surrounding construction.
Replacement Projects
For replacement windows, the existing frame condition, opening construction, access, removal method and surrounding finishes can materially change the installation scope. An initial quotation may be based on photos and approximate sizes, followed by measure-up and scope confirmation where required.

Lead-Time Options
Suitable projects may have access to JL’s approximately 4-week local production option. Broader custom supply packages commonly use an indicative 8–10 week planning allowance. Availability depends on the selected system, materials and confirmed project scope.
