What Does the Window Schedule Tell Us?
The window and door schedule normally identifies opening references, nominal sizes, configurations and other project-specific notes. JL checks the schedule together with the plans and elevations because revisions or discrepancies can affect the quotation and final order.
What Does the Energy Report Tell Us?
Energy documentation can specify or constrain window performance requirements. In NatHERS, U-value and SHGC are whole-window system values: the U-value includes the effect of the frame, glass, seals and spacers, while SHGC describes solar heat gain through the complete window system.
JL therefore compares the project requirement with the proposed complete window configuration rather than treating a centre-of-glass value as the whole-window result.

Essential, Thermal or Thermal Plus?
The energy report can help determine whether a standard aluminium system is appropriate or whether a thermally broken system should be considered. JL’s customer-facing range is organised as Essential, Thermal and Thermal Plus, with final selection based on the project requirements rather than internal profile codes.
Do Not Rely on Glass Alone
Double glazing or Low-E glass can improve thermal performance, but the complete window result also depends on the frame, spacer, seals, opening type and size. This is why an energy-report requirement should be checked against whole-window data where available.
What If the Plans and Energy Report Do Not Match?
Do not assume one document can simply be ignored. Flag the discrepancy before final approval so the builder, designer, energy assessor or other relevant project party can confirm the controlling requirement. JL can identify the window-related discrepancy, but project-specific design and compliance decisions remain with the appropriate project professionals.
