Window Performance Specifications for Melbourne Builders
Window schedules and energy reports often contain several different performance requirements. JL reviews the supplied project information against the proposed window and door configuration so builders can identify what needs to be confirmed before ordering.
Four Performance Areas to Keep Separate

U-value and SHGC
For energy-report coordination, compare whole-window values for the proposed frame and glazing configuration. Glass-only centre-of-glass values should not be treated as the finished window rating. JL publishes selected whole-window U-value, SHGC and visible-transmittance results for specification comparison.

AS 2047 Performance
Structural and weather performance is separate from thermal performance. Selected JL configurations have published AS 2047 performance results covering serviceability, air infiltration, water penetration and ultimate strength. The applicable project requirement depends on the actual opening, configuration and project conditions.

Energy Report vs Window Schedule
The energy report may nominate thermal targets while the window schedule controls opening references, dimensions and configurations. Architectural drawings can contain additional design information. If these documents conflict, the discrepancy should be identified before manufacture rather than silently choosing one document over another.

Match the Product to the Specification
JL’s customer-facing range is organised into Essential, Thermal and Thermal Plus. The highest series is not automatically required for every project. Selection should be based on the actual performance target, opening configuration, glass and project brief.
